It was the last day
before our winter break. The class seemed very disappointing to us. The number
of students had decrease over the last two weeks. Although all of the cleaner
apus promise us to be in the class regularly and continue their education, half
of them disappeared from the class. They were also committed and interested to
be educated. We asked present students in the class about the reason of other
absence. We came to know that because of excessive work in double shift they
are unable to attain class regularly despite of their interest. We have problem
to talk of this issue because the primary duty of our students in AUW is to
work and keep clean everything and we cannot help them to attain class avoiding
their duty. Then we decided to provide extra help who will be absent to catch up
the class. The class was not all about disappointment. We have students who
manage to attain in the class after maintaining all work in their workplace and
home. There is a student who does not work in AUW but in Professor’s home. She uses
to come every single class with same interest to learn. Some start coming after
managing their little kids and family, which was very hopeful for us. However,
for the last day before break we started to revise our previous all lessons. In
the meantime, we have heard some of the short story of our student’s life and
family.
Before the break we did not practice any new
alphabets. We practiced older lessons so that our students do not forget all
those in the absence of class and practice in their busy life. At the end, we
gave them a sheet where we tested their memory on every lesson. We gave fill in
gaps, puzzled words and one short reading to complete. From the reading we
asked them to find the know words and only circle those. It was fun to them and
they enjoyed to complete that class test (secret)!!!
