We were inspired by hearing our honorable Vice Chancellor's speech in the showcase.
Here comes the written draft of her speech from the recorder.

"Good afternoon our fantastic cleaning stuff, who are the students of the literacy project, and our wonderful students who are the teachers, and the faculty and stuff, thank you very much for coming. Thank you for inviting me, Im absolutely honored and delighted to be here.

I hope somebody can translate this to everyone. I just wanted to give you some data, January 29th
of this year, UNESCO declared that the world is suffering from a global learning crisis. Its a fact that poor quality education caught the world over hundred and 29 billion per year, a figure likely to be dramatically trumped by losses in human development. Increased primary school enrollment figures match the fact that 30% of students complete the primary education without gaining basic literacy skills. Over 25% of teachers lack the necessary training to do their job. Women are carrying a disproportionate share of illiteracy burden, being with over two third of the percentage of adult illiterate people all over the world. Expanding literacy skills for our girls and women is being viewed as important by many governments, NGOs, international organizations are taking responsibilities to literate women across the world.

We really need to change the structure and technique of our system to ensure women
s participation in literacy and education. And this is exactly what you are doing at AUW. If I can talk about the mission, the mission of AUW is to provide a diverse liberal arts education to talented women from diverse faculty arranges scholarships. This innovation of yours adheres too much to our mission and the learning goal that we offer. You make us so proud.

I would try to mention some names who are already on the show. These are Prothom Alo Scholers, if I remember; we had a very teary session last year saying that things are not working out the way with Prothom Alo. I wanted to do something meaningful here. I thought, can we make you get out a project, which would be so much better than just getting the Prothom Alo scholarship stipend? So Sharmin Akter Shitol, Nur E Jannat, Mousumi Mili, Bibi Joynab, Taslima Khatun, Sadia Islam, Marina Afrin, is not here. I don
t know the details of what happened, I know it must have been amazing, but I feel sad for this replace.

There is, there has been success in this project, I
m sure that it the end of the day you will see the output. But of course, this project would not have been successful without the fantastic advisors we have, Sharmistha Gosh and Fahria Kabir. And of course, the unfalteringly amazing Professor Christian Girard, who always took good care of our students. Thank you so much. I really dont know the detail, but I learned a little bit today, but Im just so grateful that it happened at AUW. You know, a recent research on the less participation of women in the education and leadership position, and the reason is literacy. The lack of sufficient social norms and expectations, institutional barriers, of course the role that males play in the society is not the same with the females. You know, education is the answer to overcome all of these barriers.

Thank you so much for having me. I am just deeply grateful that you
ve done this at AUW."
