November 15 and 16

In the first class of basic group of the Bengali literacy project, we started teaching alphabets to our student. As they are adult and go through thousand complexity and pressure in life as well as in job field, we decided to teach them only five alphabets in each class and not give any homework. We designed our class in a way, which seemed fun to them without any additional pressure. In the first class we showed them first 5 vowels from অ to ঊ by projector. We taught them how to write and pronounce the alphabets. We gave them a sheet to write the alphabets in boxes following the given letters. We also showed them videos of অ to ঊ with pronunciation and application of those letters so that they can learn to connect their knowledge with their practical life. They actually knew the word অজগর, আম, or ইলিশ but they did not know these words or name establish by the collection of alphabets. Additionally, it was little bit easy to teach them letters connecting with words they are known in their practical life. However, we saw their great response and interest in the class. They were very interest to know the unknown world of education. It seemed to me that they spread their hands to touch the light that will warm their blood and will give them life. As it was the second meet with them, their performances were little reserved. Some were hesitating to talk or share their problem and weakness. By seeing these, we figured out the new way of friendly interaction so that they can trust us and can be open than other places. With these activities we ended our first class.
